Segeberger simplex polystyrene beehives

The Segeberger simplex beehive is ideal for beekeepers who prefer not to do heavy lifting. Because the Segeberger hives are made of polystyrene (compressed polystyrene foam), they are much lighter than wooden beehives. The white, unpainted hives are easy to paint and provide good insulation, which in turn reduces feed consumption by the bees. These hives are manufactured in Germany under strict environmental standards. And, if properly taken to the recycling center, the material is also recyclable.

Segeberger beehive dimensions

Our Segeberger hives have the same internal dimensions as a spaarkast. This means you can also use Simplex hive frames and Simplex beeswax foundation for the Segeberger hive. So you can easily transfer hive frames from a wooden spaarkast into a Segeberger beehive. Note that the external dimensions are different. Segeberger components do not fit a wooden spaarkast! A Segeberger hive has raised rims on the hive parts so they interlock and stack securely.

Which Segeberger hive suits me best?

Within our range you can choose from various complete Segeberger hives. For example, you can choose a standard hive (Easy), or a very complete Deluxe version. The Easy version includes all standard beehive components, such as: a Segeberger honey super and brood box (brood chamber) (including spacing strips), a (varroa) floor and a roof. Our Deluxe version adds, among other things, a Segeberger feeder. New to our range is the option to choose different configurations when ordering a Segeberger beehive. You can choose to purchase only the basic components, or a Segeberger hive with all the extras. The choice is yours!

Other components

Want to buy a Segeberger beehive, but prefer not to have it in white? Then check out our range of polystyrene paint for the beehive, so you can give your beehive the color you want. You will also find other Segeberger products in this category, such as the Segeberger roof clamp. This roof clamp prevents the hive roof from blowing off. There are also special entrance reducer strips that can be slid into the entrance opening. These are available in wood with a stainless steel slide or a galvanized slide.
