    Wicks & wicking

Want to make your own candles and looking for the right wick? With us you’ll find special round wick suitable for making beeswax candles, but also usable for paraffin wax, other wax types, oil lamps, and outdoor torches.

Our wick is available in various sizes, from No. 0 to No. 20, which indicate the thickness of the wick. This means you can choose the right wick for your specific candles, depending on how thick you want your candles to be. There are also sample packs of (tealight) wick with multiple sizes in smaller quantities.

Please note that beeswax burns less consistently than, for example, paraffin wax, and that every batch of beeswax can burn differently. Always use the right wick for your specific candles to prevent them from going out too soon or burning too hot. Tip: always make test candles with 3 wick sizes to determine the best wick choice. Let test candles cure for a few days (or a night in the freezer) for the best test result. Candle rolling

In this category you'll find kits and other supplies for rolling your own candles.

    How do you roll candles?
    1. Use beeswax sheets at room temperature or briefly warm them with a hair dryer so the wax becomes soft and pliable.
    2. Place the wick along a starting edge. The knot in the wick will be the top of the candle.
    3. At the start of the beeswax sheet, knead the wax around the wick so the entire wick is covered.
    4. Roll the sheet of beeswax foundation further around the wick. Gently warm the last edge if needed so it adheres neatly.

By using small strips of beeswax sheet in another color or [page controller="search" search_query="versier"]decorative strips[/page], you can also decorate the candle.

    Never leave burning candles unattended!

The benefits of beeswax candles

There are several advantages to using beeswax candles. Beeswax is biodegradable and contains no harmful chemicals, unlike paraffin candles. This makes beeswax candles more eco-friendly and better for indoor air. In addition, beeswax candles give off a lovely, natural scent derived from the flowers where the bees collected nectar and pollen.

If you’re looking for candles with a longer burn time, you’ll also end up at the beeswax candle. This is because beeswax has a higher melting point, so the candle will burn longer. Besides the longer burn, they can handle a knock better too. They’re less fragile and will therefore last longer. Beeswax candles are beautiful to look at and add a natural element to any space. They’re also incredibly easy to make. All in all, a beeswax candle is a great choice if you’re looking for a more eco-friendly, healthier candle.

Making beeswax candles yourself?

Making candles from beeswax is fun and easy. Who wouldn’t want such a beautiful handmade product in their home? Here’s a step-by-step plan to make your own candles. See our blog on the website for a visual of the process.

  1.        Gather the supplies: Beeswax for candles, candle mold, candle wick, rubber bands to keep the mold closed, optionally some essential oils or dyes for the fragrance and color of the candle, a melting and pouring pot, baking paper to set the casting molds on, cocktail sticks to clamp the wick between, and scissors.
  2.        Melt the beeswax: Place the beeswax in a special double-walled wax melter pan on an (electric) stove and melt the wax on a not-too-high setting. Optionally add essential oils or dyes once the wax is liquid and stir everything thoroughly. (The scent of beeswax is already very pleasant on its own).
  3.        Prepare the candle mold: Clamp the candle wick in the bottom of the mold (which you set on baking paper), then keep the mold well closed with rubber bands. Tension the wick between cocktail sticks (tie together with a rubber band) and pour the melted beeswax into the mold with a pouring pot. Poured too generously? Let the wax harden on the baking paper and put it back into the pan. Tip: make test candles to find the right wick size.
  4.        Let the candle cool: once the wax has solidified, carefully remove it from the mold to harden further. Leave the candle for a few days before lighting.
  5.        Trim the wick: Cut the candle wick off completely at the bottom so it’s neatly finished (you can slightly melt the base so the candle stands flat). Trim the wick at the lighting end a little shorter if needed.
  6.        Enjoy your beeswax candles: You’ve now made a beautiful, natural beeswax candle you can use to set the mood at home.

Enjoy these cast beeswax candles, made from 100% beeswax!
