  • Beekeeping gloves
    Beekeeping gloves

Wearing gloves helps prevent bee stings. Still, not every beekeeper wants to wear gloves, and it isn't always necessary. But gloves, alongside a good [category id=49]beekeeping suit[/category], are often essential to have on hand. Beekeeping gloves are important when working with a potentially more defensive swarm or when working a less friendly colony. We offer various glove styles, in leather and rubber, with or without ventilation. All gloves feature a long gauntlet with elastic at the cuff. This seals the glove securely to your [category id=18]beekeeping clothing[/category] and prevents bees from crawling into the glove.

  • Beekeeping trousers
    Beekeeping trousers

Alongside wearing a [category id=46]beekeeping jacket[/category], beekeeping trousers are also very practical. They ensure you’re extra well protected against bee stings (thanks to the drawstrings and fabric). As our beekeeping trousers have elasticated ankles, they seal securely so no bees can crawl inside. Beekeeping trousers are a great solution for [category id=180]working your bees[/category] and they also look highly professional. The trousers are available in heavy and lightweight fabric, in sizes XS to XXL, and are unisex. Thanks to the elasticated waistband, the trousers will fit a broad range of sizes. Do you already know our [product id=1626]‘AirFree’ trousers[/product]? These trousers feature 3 layers for top protection combined with excellent ventilation.

  • Arm and leg protectors

    Arm and leg protection

Sometimes your colony is a bit irritable or more defensive, or you simply want to work your bees with extra protection. Then arm and leg protectors (also called gaiters) can be very handy. These arm and/or leg protectors add just that extra protection over your [product id=708]lower legs[/product] and ankles and trousers and over your [product id=707]forearms and sleeves[/product], making it harder for bees to get into your bee suit via your trousers or sleeves.

  • Bee suits and beekeeping overalls
    Bee suits and beekeeping overalls

Every beekeeper knows that protective [category id=18]beekeeping clothing[/category] is very important. In our extensive range you’ll find beekeeping suits of excellent quality. With a beekeeping suit/overall you, as a beekeeper, are very well protected against bee stings. A bee suit goes on over your regular clothing and therefore protects you very well. The more layers of air and clothing, the less chance of stings penetrating the suit. Especially in combination with boots and gloves, your protection is complete. Our beekeeping suits feature elastic and/or Velcro at the sleeves and trouser legs to seal them properly. Once you take the suit off, your nice clothes underneath are still clean and non-sticky. Our beekeeping clothing is available in various colors and qualities. You can also choose between a round or English hood and the thickness of the overall: [product id=1622]1-layer[/product], [product id=1620]2-layer[/product] or [product id=1630]3-layer[/product] (ventilated/Airfree). All our suits have a high-quality zipper, Velcro closure at the hood, and handy chest and trouser pockets. In short, such a beekeeping suit is made with an eye for detail and provides you, as a beekeeper, with excellent protection for a comfortable experience working your bees!

A bee suit or a jacket?

Every beekeeper naturally wants to get started well protected. Partly to prevent bee stings and partly to protect your own clothing from, among other things, beeswaxpropolis and/or honey. Good protection against stings means your beekeeping clothing doesn’t pinch anywhere and you can wear an extra layer underneath. If the fabric sits tight against the skin, a bee may sting through it. If a bee suit sits loose around the body, with another layer underneath, this is almost impossible. Bees do like to crawl up from the legs and may try, consciously or not, to work their way into your clothing. An overall has fewer openings and therefore offers the best protection, especially combined with boots. With more experience, a jacket or hood is very practical for quick jobs with the bees.

How do I choose the right size?

It’s better to buy a beekeeping jacket slightly too large than too tight. In spring, autumn, and winter it’s nice to wear a thicker fleece underneath without your range of motion being restricted by tight clothing. Unsure about the right size? Feel free to contact us to choose the correct size; we have the right size beekeeping clothing for everyone! Also check our online flyer with a size chart.

A round or English hood?

As a beekeeper, choosing between a round and an English hood can be tricky, as both have different advantages. An English (hood) model has the advantage that the hood takes up less space, so you’re less likely to snag on a tree or shrub. The back of this English hood is fabric. In addition, with an English hood you can view a hive frame with brood/eggs from closer up. The downside of an English hood is that in wind the mesh can blow against your nose. With a round hood, the advantage is excellent sun protection and it often feels a bit airier. A round hood also has two rings that keep the mesh farther from your face. A round or English hood? Every beekeeper makes a personal trade-off and choice.

Which color beekeeping clothing is best?

There’s a lot of talk about beekeeping clothing and how bees react to it. Which colors are truly best isn’t entirely clear. In the Netherlands, white is traditionally worn by beekeepers. Khaki bee suits are increasingly common. The advantage of khaki beekeeping clothing is that it shows dirt less quickly and blends more into nature. Each country has its own favorite color. For example, bright yellow is very popular in Italy. Whichever color you choose doesn’t matter; protection is generally the same. Every beekeeper can make their own choice.

BeeFun beekeeping clothing

The BeeFun® brand specializes in protective beekeeping clothing and aims to give the beekeeper a safe and enjoyable experience while working in his or her beehive. All BeeFun® beekeeping clothing has a logo on the left chest and is produced to European quality standards with Dutch design. Almost all our BeeFun® clothing carries the CE mark. An important part of protective clothing is the zippers: they must close well and be strong. Clothing from Imkershop is (almost) always fitted with a zipper from the leading brand YKK, even on budget models. This usually allows you to swap hoods and, in case of damage, replace only the hood. For beekeeping jackets we also use tightly woven fabric so a sting can’t easily penetrate. In the ‘AirFree’ models the fabric consists of three layers to ensure good protection against the bees, along with very comfortable ventilation!
