  • Invert sugar
    Invert sugar

Invert sugar, what is it? Invert sugar is a mixture (syrup) consisting of equal amounts of simple sugars, namely glucose and fructose (grape sugar and fruit sugar) and water. The sucrose (table sugar) is largely broken down during production, so the bees need fewer enzymes to convert the sugar into simple sugars. This helps your bees. Invert sugar is fed to bees to get them through the winter.

Invert sugar, such as from the brands [product id=1352]Invertbee[/product], [product id=4626]API-invert[/product] or [product id=4998]BeeBoost[/product], is used as a syrup feed for the bee colony. So what is invert sugar? An excellent sugar feed for bees!

You can buy invert sugar in our webshop. Here you will find all ready-to-use invert sugar syrups in various quantities and pack sizes. We offer packs of 14, 16 and 28 kg sugar syrup. It is also possible to make invert sugar yourself. You only have to add water to (powdered) sugar. Then mix 1 part water with 1 part [product id=1421]powdered sugar[/product] or regular sugar. Make sure the added water is cold/lukewarm to HMF (hydroxymethylfurfural, a substance toxic to bees), from forming.

A frequently asked question is: what is bee fondant? [category id=281]Bee fondant[/category] is a mixture of powdered sugar and a little water that is often given to bees as a temporary feed source. It is intended to help the bees during periods when there is little or no nectar and pollen because no ‘forage plants’ are in bloom or the weather is too cold for the bees to forage. We offer a wide range of different types of bee fondant. With us you can also buy ready-to-use bee fondant with, among other things, added vitamins and/or proteins. Brands you’ll find with us include [product id=2019]BeeBoost®[/product], [page controller="search" search_query="apifonda"]Apifonda[/page] (by Südzucker), [page controller="search" search_query="Fondabee"]Fondabee[/page] bee fondant, [page controller="search" search_query="FondabeeFruc"]FondabeeFruc[/page] from (Belgosuc) and various types of bee fondant from Dulcofruct. You can buy this wide assortment of bee fondant from us. The microfine sugar crystals ensure the bees take it up steadily. It is also possible to make your own bee fondant and/or sugar syrup. For 1 kg of bee fondant, mix 900 grams of [product id=1421]powdered sugar[/product] with 100 grams of water. In some situations you could also add a little of your own honey. In that case, make sure you use your own honey from your bees to prevent foulbrood or other contamination. To make 1 liter of sugar syrup use 800 grams of sugar and 500 ml of water. For large quantities it is recommended to have a [category id=139]sugar melter[/category] to use.

  • Protein for bees
    Protein for bees

Bees are hardworking insects that naturally forage to feed their colony in the hive or skep and to build up winter stores in the form of honey. An important part of their diet is [category id=282]protein[/category], which they need for the brood nest to raise larvae. Proteinis found, among other things, in the pollen of flowers. Adequate protein keeps bees healthy. With too little protein, bee immunity declines, resulting in a weaker colony. Feeding extra protein with vitamins is therefore important if your colony is weak or the supply of natural protein from pollen is minimal. Supplemental feeding will quickly strengthen a colony.
