Which vaporizer should I use?
For treatments with, for example, oxalic acid (ethanedioic acid), a vaporizer can be used. This disperses the oxalic acid as vapor throughout the hive. Alternatively, it can be applied as a dribble between the seams in the hive. For the best treatment methods, the bijen@wur guide is an excellent reference. For the use of formic acid (methanoic acid) you must use a vaporizer. With a vaporizer, the substance can be evaporated in a controlled way.The Liebig vaporizer / Liebig Dispenser offers an inexpensive and effective solution for controlling varroa using formic acid. The Liebig vaporizer can be used safely after filling and can be monitored during evaporation.
The Varrofix vaporizer is an affordable vaporizer and also very time-efficient if you only have a few colonies. After one and a half minutes the vaporizer reaches the correct temperature. The entire treatment takes a maximum of 15 minutes. The mites die within 24 hours. Now also available as a Deluxe set, including battery, charger and timer.
The Sublimox APF-PLUS vaporizer is one of the more premium vaporizers in our range. During treatment this vaporizer maintains a constant, correct temperature. The Sublimox plugs into 230V and is easy to operate. The Sublimox vaporizer is CE-certified and comes as a complete set, including heating element with handle and automatic temperature control, two caps for dosing oxalic acid, a 3-meter cable and a handy carrying case for transport.
The Varrox Eddy vaporizer is also a convenient portable vaporizer, suitable for virtually all standard hive sizes. The vaporizer is placed in the hive entrance, and with one press of a button it then works automatically. Also available as a Deluxe set, including an extra battery.
When using a vaporizer in a polystyrene/EPS (foam) beehive, always place a heat-resistant wooden plate or similar under the vaporizer that gets hot.
