Always wanted to control Varroa mites without chemicals and with minimal effort? Then the MiteZapper might be for you. The MiteZapper is an electronic system in Dutch simplex size. It works quickly and easily and can be reused because the cells are not damaged. But what exactly is the MiteZapper? It is a plastic drone comb with a beeswax coating. The bees build drone comb on it, and by heating these cells instead of cutting them out, the Varroa mites are killed without chemicals—one of the major advantages of the MiteZapper. The MiteZapper is highly effective because research has shown that the Varroa mite reproduces 10–12 times more readily in drone brood than in worker brood. As many as 20 female Varroa mites can invade a single drone cell. By killing the Varroa mites in drone brood, the Varroa infestation can be effectively controlled.
