Bees are known as hard workers and thrifty people. In earlier times, therefore, the bee could often be found on the logo of savings banks. Today, bees are especially important to the real economy. This book shows that beekeeping is the basis for hundreds of millions of euros in turnover in Dutch agriculture. Triple E, as a knowledge center in the field of nature and economy, took the initiative itself to conduct a study of the economic contribution of beekeeping to the Dutch economy. The figures are fascinating and make it clear that an emancipation is necessary. Beekeeping, an activity whose baton must be passed on to young people. Beekeeping instead of gaming? It could well be a fundamental choice, because of course we will always continue to produce food. To feed 7 billion mouths worldwide we will have to work hard, something bees are used to.
