Seeds of Phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia). A herbaceous bee forage plant suitable for all soil types. This forage plant blooms with blue flowers. Phacelia is a true bee plant.
Phacelia is best sown in a spot in full sun; partial shade is also fine. Phacelia is very drought-tolerant and even germinates more easily in slightly drier soil compared to moist soil. The seeds germinate after about 2 weeks at about 16 degrees. After 8 weeks, Phacelia can be in bloom and then provides plenty of pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, bumblebees and many other insects. If the plant receives sufficient moisture, a lot of nectar is produced; in drought only pollen.
Sowing period: from March to late August.
Sowing rate: 100 grams per 100 m2.

Phacelia tanacetifolia is a plant highly attractive to bees. That’s why this plant is also called bee-friendly or bee forage. This bee forage plant is an annual that can grow up to 70 cm tall. This nectar plant blooms with blue flowers. With sufficient moisture, the Phacelia plant produces both nectar and pollen.
If you want to sow Phacelia, the best time is from March to mid/late August. When sowing Phacelia seed, allow for a sowing rate of 100 grams per 100 m2. If you’re sowing bee forage, you don’t need to worry about soil type. This herbaceous nectar plant is suitable for every soil type.
The flowering period of Phacelia runs from May to October, depending on when you sowed. After sowing, it takes 6–8 weeks before the Phacelia plant comes into bloom. Flowering does depend on the weather. In severe frost (-5 °C or lower) the plant will not survive.
