Brood box spaarkast Premium Thermowood BeeFun®

Brood box for the spaarkast hive. Thermowood is not a wood species but the term for a modified wood. The wood is thermally modified. Through this thermal process the wood gains the same durability and color as red cedar. This (pine) brood box has undergone this thermal modification treatment. What sets Thermowood apart from red cedar is that it is a more environmentally friendly wood. This timber is sourced in Europe and is modified under high steam pressure (without chemical agents). Thanks to this treatment the wood attains the same long service life as red cedar with the same properties. With this brood box you have a more sustainable hive, with wood that is not sourced from distant parts of the world.

You don’t need to paint these hive parts, but to preserve the beautiful reddish glow we recommend treating the hive parts with linseed oil.

Embedding wax foundation is shipped at the customer’s risk due to the fragility of the embedded beeswax foundation.
