Smoker (Model) Dadant Medium 30 cm

This Dadant smoker is made of stainless steel and has a 10 cm diameter and an overall height of 30 cm. The smoker is well finished and built from very robust material. This model features a pointed nozzle. It also has a fine-mesh protective guard, making it hard to touch the hot parts. In addition, the bellows are made of durable brown synthetic leather. The interior includes a small grate for optimal airflow to the fuel.

How do you light a smoker?
Start with an easily combustible base. First place a wad of paper/dry leaves/pine needles (and optionally a smoke block) in the smoker and light it to create an open flame, then build it up with the bellows. Gently smother this strong flame with tobacco (or smoke pellets). Keep pumping with the bellows at the start. Especially for smoke pellets you need a really good initial fire. Then close the lid and pump regularly to keep the smoker going. Aim to produce plenty of cool, white smoke. Avoid blue smoke; it is too hot, can cause irritation, and can scorch the bees’ wings. The herbal tobacco / smoke blocks are a bit easier for beginning beekeepers.
