How often do I give my bees invert sugar?

How often to supplement the flock with invert sugar depends on several factors. The time of year, the weather, the size of the flock, the availability of natural food sources in the immediate area and the health of the flock all play a role.

If the hive is strong and healthy and sufficient natural nectar and pollen are available, it is usually not necessary to supplement the bees with sugars. If the hive is small or if the weather is very bad, such as during long periods of rain, cold or drought, it may be necessary to temporarily give bees extra energy in the form of invert sugar but preferably not during the winter period. Once the honey has been collected, you can overwinter the bees with Invertbee so they have enough food during the winter period. If they are still short of food during the winter, feed them with suikerdeeg.
