Both the outside and inside should be painted at least twice. Propoleum absorbs into the wood extremely quickly, so this can all be done at once. Start on the inside and work your way outward. When the wood hardly absorbs any more Propoleum, the beehive is saturated and the painting can be completed.
Propoleum is a stain that needs to be maintained, which means: repainting annually. Why would you paint the inside of the beehive? Propoleum stain ensures that condensation can barely penetrate the beehive due to its moisture-repellent properties. This in turn ensures that the wood absorbs less moisture, which prevents rotting, mold, and shrinking and stretching. This makes the hive last longer and keeps it looking nice. Propoleum is also very suitable for birdhouses, bee hotels, etc.
Tip: let the brush dry after use. As soon as it is dipped into the propoleum again, the brush is reusable.
