Scalvini cage

The Scalvini cage is a recent development for preserving the queen during varroa treatment. The queen can be kept in this, she can lay eggs but these cells are not hatched because there is not enough space. No brood emerges and after 21 days all the brood has hatched and is a broodless period. Because there is no more closed brood this period lends itself very well to treat the bees against varroa with oxaalzuur. Drip, spray or evaporate.
