Beekeepers usually mark the queen with a different color each year so they know which year the queen is from. There is a mnemonic for this. The correct colors are hidden in the following sentence.

"Het wilgenroosje groeit en bloeit"

white in years ending in 1 and 6
yellow in years ending in 2 and 7
red in years ending in 3 and 8
green in years ending in 4 and 9
blue in years ending in 5 and 0
